October 24 begins the Festival of Lights Diwali celebration. In honor of this upcoming annual holiday, your Verily culinary team is hosting Vasanti Bhadkamkar-Balan on October 19th in the Periodic Table cafe.
In addition to Chef Barry featuring recipes recreated from her book during today’s lunch, Vasanti will be personalizing her cookbook and sharing authenic Indian food cooking tips.
Vasanti is a recipe developer, food photographer and the creator of the popular blog Signature Concoctions. She attended the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City and has been teaching cooking classes for more than a decade. Authentic Indian Cooking with Your Instant Pot is her first book.
Vasanti moved from India to the United States in 2001 and the delicious cuisine of her home country inspired her first cookbook, AUTHENTIC INDIAN COOKING WITH YOUR INSTANT POT which comes out November 9th.
Her book includes 60 recipes ranging from curries to stews to desserts, as well as unique tips for making the most of your Instant Pot and recommendations for pantry staples. Most of the recipes in the book include suggestions for variations to accommodate dietary restrictions.
She’ll also be giving away her recipe for Almond Ladoos, a sweet treat that is perfect for Diwali and one that many of us in the US know as Bliss Balls. They’re easy to make and you can find the ingredients at most local markets. She putt a modern twist on this traditional recipe and would love to share other cooking tips.
